Anna Jinja, host of the Anna Jinja show, unveils her debut novel, Adopting Grace
Anna Jinja, host of The Anna Jinja Show, makes her fiction debut with Adopting Grace, a touching and thought-provoking novel exploring identity, family, and resilience.
The story follows the journey of Grace, a 39-year-old Korean-American woman who was adopted as an infant from South Korea by a Norwegian family in Iowa. As Grace grapples with her husband's affair with his high school sweetheart, her therapist suggests exploring deep-rooted issues tied to her adoption. Grace, however, believes her stress stems from juggling the demands of raising two daughters, running a small business, designing a bridal gown for a challenging client, and managing complex relationships within her family. This poignant story delves into Grace’s struggles as a wife, mother, and adoptee, exploring what it truly means to be part of a family.
Through Grace’s journey as a wife, mother, and adoptee, Adopting Grace explores the complexities of identity and belonging, offering a deeply personal and universal story of what it truly means to be part of a family.
Anna Jinja weaves her love for the Midwest, her personal connection to adoption, and her experience with divorce into this zany yet heartfelt narrative.
What readers are saying:
“Adopting Grace is raw, vulnerable, inspiring, relevant, and so much more. Captivating the reader with compassion, life lessons, and reflection through and through. Helping its readers as much as the author.”
Entering her sixth decade on this planet, Anna Jinja believes we all experience adoption in our lives. We actively choose people, values, and dreams that define who we are in this world. She has dedicated her life to a number of nonprofit organizations and causes as a volunteer or employee. Anna is launching a radio show that focuses on the stories, issues, and questions connected to adoption and foster care experiences in partnership with Pacifica Network and WOUB. By sharing her adoption story, she hopes that we will believe, accept, and value the inherent worthiness of all people.
Adopting Grace will be available in bookstores and online retailers on January 28, 2025. Don’t miss the chance to experience the quirks of the Midwest through the eyes of a Korean adoptee navigating life’s trials and triumphs.
